Surgery over and all's well!
Today was a blessed day, in which everything went off according to schedule. The whole family was up at 5.00 AM, and out of the house by 5.30 AM, so that the parents could get to Makati Med for their cataract surgery.
Dropped them off at the main lobby by 5.51 AM, parked the car near the service entrance, and trotted up the stairs to collect them and shepherd them to the operating room waiting area. Luckily, just as Ramon and I seated the parents, one of the OR staff saw us and asked if he could help. As a result, we were able to get the forms all sorted out and by 6.00 AM, Dr. Batungbacal had arrived and was making small talk with Ma and Dad while his staff squeezed various drops into their eyes.
By 6.30 AM, the parents were ushered into the OR reception area, and told to change into hospital gowns. By 7.00 AM, Dad was undergoing the procedure, and I was keeping Ma company in the waiting room. By 7.45 AM, Dad was in the recovery room (turns out his blood pressure spiked a little) and Ma was turned over to an intern.
This meant Ramon and I could have ourselves some breakfast at Floating Island. We finished at 9.00 AM, just in time to collect the parents out of the OR and bundle them upstairs to Floating so that they could have breakfast in their turn.
By 10.00 AM, we were out of the hospital and resting comfortably at home. I put new linens on the bed and pillows, and was sleeping the sleep of the righteous till lunchtime. After lunch, life pretty much went on its merry way, with me going online to check my triad of mail, feeds, and LJ.
Ma's vision is clearing spectacularly - from not being able to see out of one eye, she can now see pretty well. The parents are due back at the opthalmology clinic tomorrow afternoon, for a post-op checkup. They've got these cool wrap-around clear glasses/goggles to wear during these post-op hours, really spiffy looking. ::grin::
It feels good to have had a decent amount of sleep. Though I wouldn't be unhappy if I'd been allowed to sleep a little longer. ::grin:: Currently channel-surfing. I've found some more shows to track - just finished Without A Trace. Got hooked by this new pirates-style reality show on AXN that comes on on Wednesdays; saw one episode and was very glad to see who got voted off - he was really full of himself, he was. ::chuckle::
I'll sign off here. I find myself wanting to post some more entries, but it's not happening yet. Maybe tomorrow, though.
