Sure, and 'twas a fine day, indeed!
It all started with me getting Php 1K for the little editing job I agreed to take on for a former colleague from Greenbelt Chapel. Managed to keep a straight face when this PhD candidate admitted that she'd never heard of the famous Elements of Style by Strunk and White, and strongly advised she get herself a copy before she got down to the real nitty-gritty of writing her dissertation.
Didn't get to keep the extra money for long, though - had to refill prescriptions and get a new set of glucose metering strips, which do not come cheap, alas.
Then on to Fully Booked at the Bonifacio High Street. It's a nice place to be - preferably in the late afternoon and evening, after the airconditioning has had a chance to kick in. Ramon and I were there shortly before 11.00AM, just as the store opened, so it was rather warm with the heat radiating through the glass walls and windows.
But the stock is quite comprehensive. I was mightily pleased to see the omnibus volumes of the Darkover universe, and have marked some of them for future purchasing. Also marked is Phantom by Terry Goodkind, part of the Sword of Truth series; and The Robe, which was the basis of the film of the same name.
In particular, I have my eye on the "sequels" to Pride and Prejudice. Of course I've forgotten the titles now, but I'll know which ones they are when I see them. Definitely one is Darcy and Elizabeth, and the other...oh, blast.
Walked over to North Park at Market!Market! to have lunch, and good one it was, indeed. We proceeded home after that, and I was snuggling into bed when my friend Ryrie-chan called asking for company while she had an extremely belated lunch. She'd spent most of the day at Makati Med consulting doctors and having tests, which upset her schedule mightily.
So off I went with her, and we ran into an old acquaintance from prayer community, who, as it happened, also did *not* have her lunch - and there was much catching up to be done.
After a short stop at Mercury Drug, Ryrie-chan dropped me off at home before proceeding to pick up my goddaughter, and life was as normal - except that I didn't eat any dinner, my tummy being full enough to satisfy a baby python. ::grin::
As of now, I've checked e-mail and newsfeeds. Will probably skip most of LJ_Friends tonight, since Ramon and I have an early start in the morning for his fasting blood glucose test. Ciao!

Oh. Oh my. My oh my. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I don't suppose this news would horrify Ramon into losing his appetite, thereby making the "fasting" part of tomorrow's test that much easier?

I'm still trying to figure out how I was required to buy this as a reference for English class when I was in college, and she made it all the way to PhD without having heard of it, at least once. ::scratches head::

Oh man. Brings me back to the days when my classmates majoring in English Studies: Language didn't know about this either xD;.
Ooh, speaking of Pride and Prejudice,

Will bookmark and read it later, thanks for the rec!
As for Strunk and White...I was required to buy this for English class in college, back in the 80s. How this gal managed to get past Masteral thesis and into PhD dissertation without having heard of this book at least *once*? Is beyond me.
