Those Vatican Driving Commandments

...are getting a lot of press, aren't they?

As someone who drives in a city that has been cited (in less than civilized language, too) as having some of the worst traffic *ever*, I just had to chuckle at the statement where making the sign of the Cross before driving was recommended. It's pretty much the default behavior of many a Filipino driver - before some of them go out and drive like maniacs anyway.

I've been bullied by people in heavy traffic, trying to nudge their Ford Expeditions/Toyota Land Cruisers into my lane, without so much as a turning signal up, let alone the right of way. "Power and domination", indeed. ::snort:: That's not even counting the erratic behavior of bus drivers, weaving in and out of lanes like they were driving F1 racers, and woe unto you if you hold on to your right of way!

For all it may be a re-hash of the Golden Rule, who knows. There's a whole lot of people out there still clueless about the concept of following the basic rules of the road. Someone might just get their mindset tweaked for the better, and that might be a good thing.

In home news, I spent most of the day sleeping. @__@ I did manage to put away the laundry and sync the Palm with the iBook. On re-reading the specs for the Palm Foleo, I'm having second thoughts about wanting one; but I may yet change my mind, who knows. The Tungsten/W I've got is doing just fine, thanks, and all is well.

I think the weather may have turned in the upper altitudes. It seemed about a degree or two cooler today, especially in the early morning. Hm.

I saw those on the news and was all, "Yeahbuhwhat?"

Commandments? I know they're the Vatican but can they just use that word for something as trifling as driving? Don't the Ten commandments already pretty much cover it? D:

The official title, actually, is "Pastoral Care of the Road" or something like that. "Commandments" was the term of reference used by the press. Still...!

p/s - this vigil for the sale of permanent accounts to open is a great excuse to stay up and write stuff. or catch up with bookmarked sites. i have stuff here that i don't remember why i have them, yo!
