Rest in peace, little Ninja-girl!

Ramon and I came home from the mall to find our little Ninja-cat laid out at the foot of the garage, the victim of a hit-and-run. The nice driver from the house across the street, saw her lying in the middle of the road and carried her over just seconds before we got home; she was still warm when we got out of the Revo.

For the first time in a long time, I cried over the death of a cat in our house - I picked Ninja up off the street last year, when she was still a bit kitten with a chips bag stuck over her head. She grew into a pretty cat and a good mother to her two litters...and the cat-loving part of our household is distraught with grief, her death coming so soon after her kitten Spottie, also the victim of a hit-and-run just yesterday.

Ma was in tears when I went to her room, and Ramon was tearing up and blowing his nose. I reminded him to try not to take it too much to heart, because of his heart, and thankfully after watching a little Three's Company on DVD, he was able to laugh a little.

Liza, the maid, is of the suspicion that the hit-and-run may have been deliberate, and she thinks she may know who the culprit is. There's a new driver on the street and ever since he arrived, she says, we've had two feline deaths by misadventure. I just hope karma hits him where he lives, if such an awful thought is true. The poor sweeties!

When I went to refill the food bowls, I looked at the aluminum kitchen door and realized I won't be seeing Ninja's face peeping through the screen anymore, from her station on top of the washing machine; and it hurt, oh God, it hurt.

I'm sure the news of how I was crying over our little girl will be traveling up and down the street within the hour. Never underestimate the network of the household help! Ramon carried her to the genset platform, and it was so very hard to leave her there, but of course we had to get on with the business of living.

Sleep well, baby girl. Wherever you are, I know that angels are looking after you and the rest of the feline clan from now on. But oh, we'll miss you so!

aww. I'm so sorry to hear that. If it's deliberate, that guy ought to try getting run over by a steamroller!
