Aug. 29th, 2012 02:40 pmOh boy. Where do I even begin to catch up? May as well pick a random point and start from there...
July. July was, I think, one of the worst months of my life. Or was that June? Whatever. The fact that I am blocking out all memory of the events of that month/s should be sufficient evidence that things happened. Or, as they say in fandom, shit got real.
On the other hand, it wasn't a total loss. I learned to let go of some things. I learned to frame my life in a more positive way. And for better or worse, I have put myself into debt for five years (which makes the bank very happy, mind you). Basically, I sat down with all my finances, and came up with a plan that not only will get my debts paid, it leaves a little extra for things like vet bills and other expenses.
So now I don't need to depend on Dad's good graces for the grocery money. If he feels like giving it to me, that's fine; if not, I don't need to panic about not having anythng. At first I was going to pay all the credit card bills in one fell swoop, but then I decided to wipe out all the arrears and then pay the installments as usual. The system is working, and I should make it to the next dividend day with a healthy surplus in the bank. Which means that I will have a Christmas budget!
At this point, all my bills are current, and that is a relief beyond measure.
Christmas is coming. (OH MY DEAR GOD WHY IS THE TELEVISION PLAYING WHITE CHRISTMAS NOW?) I'm going to be 50! I have no idea what I am going to do to celebrate my birthday. Definitely go to church...I have a lot to be thankful for this year.
Guess I should start planning for Christmas. I made a total shambles of it last year. The Christmas gifts for my goddaughter and her mom from last year (along with their birthday gifts) are still sitting in the office, reproaching me with their presence. Sigh.
In other news: I did a revamp of the bedroom, changed the orientation of the bed. Moved some of the bins to the office space. Bought a new computer desk and moved the desktop to the foot of the bed. So now I have a workstation for all the computers. Figuring out where to put the electric fans took a while, but eventually resolved itself. The cats were confused at first by all the moving around, but now they like the new arrangement. There are constant battles for the right to occupy my space on the bed; they appear to have settled the shift schedules among themselves.
My poor Paddycat has a cold, and looks absolutely miserable. :( Have been dosing him with antibiotic, and he's improving. Sleeping a lot, but perks up at night. Qbie, on other hand, is growing sleek and fat and continues to be a loving little brat. The rest of the chibis know thaat they are loved, and follow Ramon everywhere – even the bathroom. They all act as though he'll flush himself down the toilet, they way they cluster around the bathroom door.
End of page. I'll post this up now, and write the continuation later.

Aug. 29th, 2012 02:53 pmAugust. Well, I guess you call it the month of recovery, if you're willing to overlook the monster cold that took hold of me for the better part of three weeks. But all things considered, my finances recovered, and quite a few things that were left on the back burner finally got done.
I forgot to have both the cars registered, with all the mayhem and foolishness that was running rampant all through June and July. Well, I took care of that yesterday. The Avanza first, in the morning; and then we took the Innova after lunch. It turned out that the emission center where we got our cars tested, moved out. We found another one on J.P. Rizal where we had the testing done; there's another one nearer the LTO that will also serve in a pinch.
Since we returned the Avanza close to 11:00am, we did the car's emission test first, then took ourselves off to Rockwell for lunch at Mongkok, before returning to the LTO. Man, it's been a long time since we were at Rockwell, I didn't know the place where the Starbucks and Cantinetta was gone! Pity we couldn't stay very long.
Then after the Innova was registered, we had to make a dash to Pet Express to get some Fancy Feast for the brats. There's a new kind of cat food, so I decided to get a few cans of that, see if the cats would like it. Apparently they do. :)
I had to switch over to clumping litter since the Coco Crumble was out of stock. Pura Clumping Litter is the one I'm using now – I buy it by the 20kg sack and it is working like magic. When Tartie first saw the new litter, he went gaga over it, scratching at it and generally playing with it, and finally lying down in it. O.o In time he did use it for the purpose it was meant for, with everyone watching him and then following suit. We have very few “accidents”, if ever, and the litter does last for about a week and a half before it needs to be changed. So that's one more thing I can get at Cartimar.
SmartHeart, I am happy to note, comes in cans. I discovered this when my suki was running out of Aristocat. Costs the same, too. Pity it's only one flavor – Tuna – I made up the balance of the brats weekly allocation with it when the Aristocat ran out. Did a little research on the internet and discovered that there are actually four flavors of SmartHeart: Tuna, Tuna with Chunks, Seafood, and Mackarel. Hopefully my suki will be able to bring in these other flavors as well, and the kittehs will do quite nicely.
Tomorrow Ramon goes in for his fasting blood sugar extraction. Then we go to Cartimar, and then we go to the bank so I can transfer some money into my grocery account. Then we go home and rest. I'm reasonably recovered, but if I stay out too long, I feel woozy.
That about updates it from my end. I'll see if I can't find something to talk about soon.
