So I have me a new CPU

Nothing too fancy, it doesn't even come with an optical drive. (Of which I already have 3 external USB units already.) But the processor speed (1.8 GHz), RAM (2GB) and hard drive (500GB) are improvements over what I'm using, so it suits me fine.

The price point was pretty good, too - 7.8K pesos. The shop is one that I've often peeked into, and I like the vibe; the tech was helpful and not high-pressure sales. Am one satisfied customer.

Tomorrow I set it up. Tonight I back up stuff.

One of my LJ friends is worried about her mom's health. I can relate, hubby went through something similar during one of his hospital stays - on the day before he was going to be discharged. :(

A truly unnerving experience. I hope LJ-friend's mom gets better soon; hubby did, thank God.
