I knowi said i was going to continue my entry from last time, but life got in the way. Right now i am at Tokyo Tokyo in Greenbelt, having lunch. Pics on Facebook, for those so inclined.
Let's see, as I recall, my last entry was mostly me rhapsodizing about the iconic Jeepney Bar of the Hotel Intercontinental. I did mention i was there for lunch, and left out the part where i was joined by my bestie. Let me tell you a little bit about her...she's a single mother, who managed to weather health challenges and occasional family loopiness (which every family has, mind) to bring up a daughter who warms the heart with her intelligence and quick wit. Having the privilege of being said young woman's godmother, i may be biased. But her academic achievements are without question, and it would seem her students love her.
This dear friend is the one who came running to my side when Ma had her stroke, when all i asked for were prayers. Who found me the doctor who is now the family neurosurgeon. Who came running when Ramon had his stroke and helped me get him transferred to Makati Med from St. Luke's. Who again came running when Ramon died, steering me through the arrangements for the wake, taking me home that first night without him, bearing with me when my mind blanked out on answering simple questions. She put her whole life on hold for me ...
So yeah. Lunch was a celebration of love and life and it was a wonderful thing. We caught up with goddaughter at the Starbucks, after which, bestie accompanied me on my shopping. She managed to get some shopping done as well. After checking out, we parted ways, well satisfied.
Which bring us to the present. Yesterday i paid our handyman his weekly wages, and lent him my bike. It being a gloomy and rainy day, the streets had flooded, and since his own bike was being fixed, it seemed the sensible thing to do.
Never did i sleep so much as did yesterday. The weather has turned at last, which meant all of us are making like fish in a chiller in the morning. Late risers, we are...7am.
After filling our clotheslines with laundry, i made the command decision to drop everything else off at a laundry service. Ma has totally run out of clean sheets...she'll be using mine next. What? We both have single beds, so it will work.
Then the maid who left? Asked for the remainder of her salary - a week's worth. So off i went to the remittance office to send it, and here i am, polishing off my lunch and planning my next moves.
Catch you when i catch you...
