So far, so good.

- We have a new maid. Sweet young thing, 23, knows how to follow directions. This is good. Ma is going through the usual adjustment period, but we will survive.

- I have gone to Divisoria. The Christmas shopping from that end of the world is done, praise be to God! Aside from the Christmas gifts for the maintenance crew, I have refurbished my wardrobe. The old clothes have gone to the Caritas box at Santuario, dropped off at regular intervals. I am a believer in donating things that still have some life left in them, so all's well.

- Dad has a new TV. The old one was consigned to the recycling fair, along with two old lamps, a dead printer from WOMFI, Ramon's old mattress (there were two other mattresses, but dear Lord, not fit for anything but the rubbish heap), and assorted cartons and stuff. Maybe I should have cleared out the storage area while I was at it, but then I wanted to leave something for our regular eco-aide to pick up. Got the new TV from Anson's, who must love me by now, considering all that I've gotten from them so far. It took a while to set up, but given a workaround, it is a thing of beauty. Dad is happy! *dances*

- The full list of stuff I've gotten from Anson's, thusly:
* the living room TV (46in, Sony) w/ free stereo system/DVD player
* the water purifier system (Sapoe), made up of:
* filtration unit (where the water goes)
* water dispenser
* the gas range (La Germania)
* a new electric fan (Imarflex) which is FAR more efficient in the room than the old unit
* the guest room TV (aka Dad's TV, a 24in Sharp) that fits beautifully in the space formerly occupied by the old TV, w/ free DVD player
* the massage pillow that Ma and I absolutely adore - it's not the usual vibrating thing, it has these mounted knobs that give you a whole new dimension about massage pillows.
It is highly possible that I have given that store good reason to love me. *grin*

- I got a new pair of glasses, with progressive lenses. It's the latest prescription on record at Vision Express; somehow I mislaid the first pair and never ever found them again. Ramon got himself two new pairs; apparently his "lazy eye" condition mandates the use of separate glasses for distance and reading.

- Old operating system of computer crashed and burned. Have switched to Puppy Linux, a minimal install that fits the bill, though not without its pains. So far, so good. Corollary to this, the computer was kind enough to wait until I had organized all my stuff to portable hard drives before going kaput.

Will be giving myself a "recovery period" of sorts. Means I'm going to be reading and replying to individual posts, but not many entries for the general public. Hopefully things will settle down in October. It's been one heck of a September on this end, I'll say that much. :)

Woohoo! Love shopping sprees. :D Hope ansons gave you some sort of discount or points.

What did you get at Divi?

The Divi haul comprises the following:

- 40 additional t-shirts for the maintenance crew
- dusters
- square pants
- pajama sets
- two blankets for the parents
- fruits
- bath towels

I think that's about it...we parked at Lucky Chinatown, so it was just a matter of hauling bags up to the car after every foray into the streets. So in return, we had a post-breakfast snack at Bread Talk, and after the shopping was done, I had a wonderful, blissful massage session in one of the places there.

The t-shirt place and the dusters/pajama sets/square pants place are sukis from two years ago. *grin* They like it when I show up, I'm usually the "buena mano" and thus get away with a good discount on stuff. Dusters at 160 each, and that's the kind with lace trim - same thing at SM is already 300plus!

Anson's was on their inventory sale during all this purchasing of swag for the house. *grin* So I not only got discounts, I got freebies on the TV sets. Whee!

And a partridge on a pear tree!

Happy for you!

Hello!!

I have always loved your "slice of life" posts. Makes me wish we really could sit down somewhere lovely and share tea together.

Somewhere calm and full of greenery and the odd wild animal here and there. *smile*
