Sleep well, Tartie-luv
This morning at around seven-thirty or so, my Tartie was found at the gate that leads to the laundry area. He...I guess he was hit by a car. I'd like to think he was hit by a car, because the scenario that hubby came up with - that the drivers could have been offered money to kill the cats - is too painful to contemplate, given as how a) Tartie hardly ever goes out of the garage and (b) is the sweetest babycat imaginable.
What makes it hurt all the more is that when I left him in the garage this morning, he was bright-eyed and full of life, he'd just had his breakfast. My poor sweet babycat...of them all, he never gave me any trouble, never left the house, always was within call and greeting me with those little miaows of his.
I can't look at the top of the freezer without thinking of him and how he would ask to have his food served there. I'll go clean the litter pans this afternoon, and look around for his presence, because he used to use the pans the second I'd cleaned them. All the little things, you know?
Latte and Budi came up to me while I was sobbing over his body, miaowing and head-butting me. Trying to comfort Marmar, poor loves.
Oh, Tartie. How I will miss you! Sleep well, my little rescue baby - and say hello to all the family that went ahead. At least you won't be lonely, wherever you are.

ps - I hope life has been kinder to you than when I last looked at your blog.

Thank you. I hand-raised him. Found him on the sidewalk with his two siblings. Hand-raised them all, had a scare when Primux tumbled a can onto his head and we thought he was a goner! But they all survived babyhood, and were good little things till Primus was hit by a car, Siggy went off and never came home. Tartie was the last of them...and now he's gone.
This much I know, he was loved, dearly and deeply loved. And I take consolation in knowing that he knew it too.

hugs, hugs, hugs
(If it's any comfort, my mom says it's always the good ones that pass away early.)

There's just this Tartie-shaped hole in my life right now...and I miss him so.
On the other hand, I have a viral epidemic in the house to keep me distracted. Paddycat, Biscuit, Pixel, Walker (oh god, Walker - we had to rush her to the vet because she was crying when she breathed, but it's just congestion, thank God) in various stages of affliction. Am loaded to the gills in medications. Thankfully all are fairly good patients.
Thank you for the sympathies. *hugs you back*
