Spent pretty much most of this day doing...little things. All sorts of stuff that don't really make for interesting reading, but contribute to the overall smoothness of life. I figured that we had enough groceries to tide us over the onslaught of a new typhoon, so stayed home.

Scarlett Avanza still confined in the service shop. The cable that controls both the airbag deployment and the horn finally succumbed to age (3yrs?) and had to be replaced, to the tune of 10K (for the part alone). Well, nothing to do but wait for the part, since it is impossible to be driving without a horn (though I did manage it, bringing the parents and Ramon for their eye checkup.

Been spending a lot of time watching videos of the devastation brought by Nesat/Pedring. It was something spectacular to see how the Sofitel Philippine Plaza merged with the Manila Bay when their seawall broke, effectively drowning their signature multi-buffet restaurant Spiral. The pictures of waves crashing on the seawall were eerie, like watching a tsunami roll in.

The biggest heartaches are in the provinces affected by water run-offs from our hydroelectric power plants. The dams that are all but dry during the summer were full to bursting. It was a case of "if we release water, your crops die; if we don't release water the dam will break and you and your crops will die". "Inundation" does not even begin to describe how everything looks out in the provinces.

Not to mention that everyone knows the monsoon season isn't done with us yet.
