Fwd: Friday, 26-August-2011 :: Event/s of the Day & Twitter Log

Event of the Day: bringing the Avanza to the service center to get new locks. Remember how my bag got stolen last July? And how the car keys were in it? Well, the advice from all quarters was to get new locks, just in case. Which I did. No remote control, though - apparently that is an added expense, and I only ever used it to open the car, never lock it. Blame this weird fear of a false alarm draining the battery, but that's how it goes.

So I'm told the car will be ready after lunch. Since the sun is barely over the horizon, in a manner of speaking, I walked to the Pancake House nearby and had myself a good breakfast. I'd dropped Ramon off at a jeepney stop earlier, so he was off having a Jollibee breakfast while waiting for the barber to open.

From Pancake House, off to the bank next door to get monies for the car and the weekly expenses. Then to Alphaland - but since the mall was still closed, and the day both overcast and windy, I decided to visit the vendors under the MRT station bridge. From there, it was a short hop to suddenly deciding to take the MRT up to Shaw. Sent Ramon an SMS about the idea, then had to wait for him because he wanted to come along too.

So off we went to Trinoma (since he got us both the maximum fare)! I love rail travel, even if it was a bit of a tight fit in the carriage, thanks to the morning rush hour. No traffic, and the view isn't half bad - so many new buildings going up! In deference to Ramon's gimpy leg and his reserves of strength, we had lunch in the Landmark food court, toddled about a bit, then headed back to Alphaland.

This time, we got to sit down, coming from the end of the line; we even had a chance to enjoy the airconditioning for a while, before the train pulled into Santolan. At Alphaland, we rode the smallest handicapped-friendly elevator I have ever seen, down from the pedestrian bridge at the top of the station, to the 3rd floor of the building. Rehydrated at the Mini Stop; peeked into CD-R King; called Toyota and found out the car was ready for pick-up.

Walked back to Toyota, seeing as how the weather was still overcast and windy. Left Ramon at Alphaland perusing books. I regret to inform everyone that the wall of Glaxo SmithKline has a lingering odor of pee, but otherwise it was an easy walk, and good for my legs. Ramon rode the jeep to Toyota and met me there. No way was he going to tire himself out by walking!

Then we took the car down to the SM Hypermart Pet Express, where I was beyond pleased to score two large bags of Kitty's Crumble. Also got tinned cat food and "specials" that the brats love and try to cadge out of us at every opportunity. Took the time to visit the Hypermart itself, and picked up a few things for the house.

Headed home, wilted in the humidity, took medicine for the whopper headache I started, wrangled the cats into their "dorms", played far too much Angry Birds, and then had a hot shower before staying online till sleep claimed its rights. All in all, a very good day.
