Fwd: Friday, 05-August-2011 :: Event/s of the Day & Twitter Log
Event of the Day: discovering that today was the last day to register the car before being assessed penalties.
Cris, Ma's sweetheart of a physio, came today - we had to push back her usual Wednesday appointment because the cold she had managed to back up into her ear, poor baby. Before she arrived, I nipped down to Toyota Pasong Tamo to pick up the Innova's TPL insurance and certificate of cover; while Ma had her PT session, I assembled all the necessary papers for the LTO. Gee, doesn't that sound so utterly efficient? *blink*
Dropped off Cris at Alphaland. Proceeded straight down Pasong Tamo to the emission testing center, where the car passed with flying colors. Proceeded to the Makati LTO where I discovered two things. First, getting into the parking lot (the size of a postage stamp) is a damn sight easier when arriving after lunch. We even snagged a proper parking place, holy wowza.
Second, the public washroom leaves too much to be desired. The flush in the ladies' room does not work; you have to fill a pail from the faucet beside the sink and pour the contents into the bowl. I tried to fit into the cubicle, but...um...there was no room for me to maneuver to get the door closed? I dropped four inches from my waistline this year, I know I can't possibly be so fat that a cubicle door wouldn't close. As in, if I had shut the door, I couldn't look down to undo my pants, W.T.F. to the nth power.
Thank heavens that the actual process of getting the car registered was a mere 40 minutes. Plus, it was more breezy in the waiting area, with fewer people about. I now know the best time to appear at the LTO for next year's process!
Then off to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes at Glorietta 4. We caught the 3.10pm showing. I dropped Ramon off at the ground floor entrance so he could get the tickets while I parked the car. He had a quick lunch of sizzling bangus while I bought a Swiss Mushroom burger meal at Burger King. Settled into our seats in good time, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the movies.
I will say this much: I've always been partial to Tom Felton from the Harry Potter movies, so when I initially discovered he was part of this one, my fox-ears popped up in interest. Not to spoil anyone, but he does well - very well - and don't judge me, but I think he steals the movie from James Franco. So there. *nods* In any event, I just couldn't seem to sympathize overly much with Franco's character throughout the movie. As I described it to a friend who will be seeing it over the weekend: "It has Plot! It has Action! It has a WHOA THERE moment! It has a FUCK YEAH! moment! Totes worth the price of admission."
*grin*
Ate dinner at the Food Court so that Ramon could rest up once we got home. Which he did; I took over feeding the cats their evening snack and locking up the gates while he dozed off. On Sunday we have plans to watch Captain America, which means an early trip to Mercury Forbes so we can catch the first showing at Cash and Carry. We'll see how things work out from there.
