Event of the Day: Taking a drive to Makati Med's ER to have Ramon's bum
tummy checked out. He was complaining of a stomach ache that he
described as "acidic". We didn't have any antacids in the house, and
it's not like we could just give him something without a doctor's
approval. Plus, we couldn't get his senior discount without a
prescription anyway...

So as you can see from the tweets below, we arrived at Makati Med around
one in the morning. Dropped off Ramon at the ER entrance, and between
his entering and my arriving at Outpatients after parking the car, he
managed to get himself hooked up to the ECG machine because he'd felt
some abdominal pain.

Fortunately for all concerned, the ECG came out normal (am rather
pleased that I can tell what a normal reading looks like now). Oral
antacids were administered (Maalox), though after 30 minutes, no real
relief was forthcoming. So...back to the dreaded heplock and
intravenous administration of Plasyl and some other medicine, which
settled the gastric discomfort enough to have us discharged with
prescriptions by 2.30am.

Dropped by the 24-hour Mercury Drug across the street from the hospital
to pick up a few of Ramon's medications. Got home, sort of slept, woke
up at around six to the usual routine before getting Dad to Makati Med
for his monthly consult with Dr. Gatmaitan. Had breakfast at the Mini
Stop; I love being able to buy a liter of bottled water to go with the
morning hotdog. Ramon got his morning paper to read, Dad toddled about
the place then preceded us to the doctor's office.

I told Agnes (Dr. Gatmaitan's secretary) about Ramon's gastric episode,
and submitted the ECG tracing and ER prescriptions for the doc's
information. Got the prescriptions written on Dr. G's official pad with
the PTR number. Ramon toddled off to the kidney lab to watch the NBA
game of the day (!!) while Dad had his consult and checked out in
perfect condition.

Did a pass by the Phoenix gas station at the Philippine Navy, where Dad
gets two pesos off every liter because he has a special privilege card
for it, as a retired officer. Then lunch was had at Claw Daddy, because
we wanted a change from Italianni's, and the general verdict was quite
in favor of the Cobb Salad, Popcorn Shrimp, and Chowder (one order can
be split three ways, which was great).

Then home, to life as usual and a wonderful long nap. It's a wonderful
thing when a day comes together like that.
