Event of the Day: recovery from the effects of staying up till 2.00am because of the power fluctuations. Gaah, our appliances! Managed to get some sleep, though, after calling in the maintenance crew to check out a few leaks and defrost the little refrigerator. Tracked the Harapan debate via Twitter the night before, when the electricity wasn't having a hissy-fit.

Managed to somehow fit in a nap. So in the end, it was life as usual.

• 00:27:30: oh good grief. power out for the second time tonight. had to reload genset with diesel before starting, was down (cont) http://tl.gd/abadua
  
• 00:28:25: the best part is when the power comes back up - for all of 10 seconds - then goes down again for much longer. our appliances! *sigh*
  
• 00:29:38: neighbor's genset has stopped. does that mean power is back up? will have to leave twitterverse for a while to do the shutdown routine.
  
• 00:31:17: @dragonsigh for realz! nico baua of abs-cbn was lamenting about the many stories of thrown fetuses he's covered.
  
• 00:41:02: ok, we have the mains power back. thing is, i'm not sleepy any more. ah well...
  
• 01:24:53: @dragonsigh oh yes! at least once every two weeks, TV Patrol tells the world of the newborn-1wk old babies found in the trash. @__@
  
• 01:25:27: aaaand somewhere between my last tweet and this one, the power went down *again*. this time, the genset stays on for as long as it can. >.<
  
• 01:28:38: at least the internet signal is up - for now. we lost our streetlight, apparently. and there's a palm leaf caught in some cables.
  
• 01:36:42: @woodsonhawk you assume correctly. staying safe indoors and keeping a weather eye out on the outdoors.

• 21:02:13: well. laptop turned lucid enough for me to look up reasons for random reboots. followed advice to make sure unit was as cool as possible.
  
• 21:03:16: laptop now appears to be stable. *relief* was able to remove my busted keyboard, as an added bonus. *grin* everything works now!
  
• 21:03:57: only...i have to reinstall a bunch of screws in the morning. *chuckle*

• 21:10:18: WHUT. CD-R King's new 19" LCD monitors are going for Php5.5 thousand. I got mine for Php4 thousand. Lucky!

That's Budi - remember, the one I was nearly hysterical over because she was so sick? That pic was taken by Ramon before she went into the decline; she loves to look over shoulders to see what "tong" she can extract from family meals. This time, it was breakfast. *huge grin*

Now that she has recovered from the near-death experience, she looks like that again. And is as donya as anyone could ever wish for in a cat, yelling at all the wee kittens and their mamas. LOL!

i feel like getting a twitter account just so i can participate in those discussions. i was watching the harapan debate and AAARGH-ing in frustration at points.

I think it was just as well that I didn't watch, or I would have ranted all night long at the TV.

How is it that Jesus gives us the right to choose, but the priests don't want to? I mean, yes, they can rant and rave about the so-called immorality the RH Bill, that is their right in a democratic environment. But to engineer things so that the choice is taken away from those who want to go full speed ahead and damn the torpedos anyway...it headaches me, it does.

Re right to choose: what I remember from reading my Bible, after all the laws of the Lord were read out, Joshua told everyone that since God spelled everything out, it was now up to them to choose to follow the rules or not. The famous "As for me and my house" verse.

Now I think the idea is that adults following the rules are supposed to educate the children in the ways of their elders, so that following the rules comes naturally; in a way, education leads to informed decisions = decisions are choices, are they not?

As I said, it headaches me. And I will get down from my soapbox before it headaches you, too.
