Nov. 1st, 2012 03:39 pmSleepy afternoon. The gardener was here. I hope Dad gave him his salary before he left. :( Chances are he did, since he didn't give it to me, and he's taking a nap now, so...
1) Am going to Iloilo for my uncle's funeral. I've got my ticket on Cebu Pacific - leave on the 9th, back on the 11th. Will spend my first night in Passi (uncle's hometown) so that I'll be up early with my cousins for the rites. Will spend the second night at Hotel Sarabia, the better to catch the flight out on the 11th. Passi is about two hours drive from Iloilo proper, so it ought to be easier.
2) Spent a fruitless afternoon trying to install Windows 7 Starter Edition on my netbook. It was cheaper than getting a Linux-friendly scanner - and besides, my old scanner still works, just on Windows. Since WinXP crashed my netbook in a spectacular way (think looping "Windows did not start correctly. Please choose from the following options..."), I thought it was time to do a fresh install of a new system.
As of now, since I don't need the scanner yet, I am taking a break from attempting to install Windows 7.
3) There is a new cat in the vicinity. It is a grey tabby, whose markings are very nearly like those of Bunnet and Brio - but he sounds almost exactly like Paddycat and Pebbles. Methinks his daddy was two-timing Walker and Pica. *grin* He has a name - Mochi - derived from Moocher, which is what he has been doing to the kibble out in the laundry area.
Friendly little soul. When I fed him, he started rubbing against my leg, and when I tried to pet him, he did this rolling-over "lookit me, I'm so cute, love me?" thing. Let's just say that since he's got a name, he's got a family for the holidays. Darklette's not too pleased with this - she keeps shouting at him to show him who's boss. Ah, well. It will work out.
4) Went to church for All Saint's Day. Lit a brace of candles for all the dearly departed - then discovered I didn't have exact change, so had to light up a whole other set. I've heard it said that a candle lit is a prayer said, until the candle burns out - so that's a whole lot of praying going on.
5) After church I went to Cartimar. Got one sack of rice.
6) After Cartimar I went to Pet Express. Discovered a 12kg sack of Your Cat for only 540 pesos, so I got that and several cans of Fancy Feast, Meow Mix cups, and Sheba. I think I'm going to make Pet Express happy again, unless I find that litter in Cartimar for cheaper.
7) Dropped by McDo for Ma's apple pie and a Big and Tasty that I just remembered I should eat. So I'll sign off here for now.
