Sep. 11th, 2012 11:12 amOhhhkay. This has been a busy, busy few days.
1) Whiskey is still at the vet. Though thank God, she was much improved yesterday when we went to visit. She was out of her cage, in the visitor's area - and the moment she saw us, she was all MIAOW MARMAR PARPAR MIAOW I WANT TO GO HOME CUDDLE MEEEE, runny nose and all. ::sniffle:: So she was cuddled and loved on, and then she settled down for a nap against Ramon. When he began to cramp, he sloooowly eased himself off the sofa, and the moment his weight left the seat, Whiskey was instantly awake and calling for him.
The doctor says she's more responsive when we're around. Her white blood cells are still elevated, and she won't take food so they are force-feeding her. Am going to try bringing food from home and her own bowl and maybe if we can get her to eat, we can bring her home.
As a result, I got into a comfortable position, and let her sleep on my lap. We were there until six p.m. and then we had her tucked away for the night.
Oh, and Tiger is Whiskey's number one fan, mainly because he can try cadging food from her when we're there. :) For real, we tried offering Whiskey dry kibble to get her to eat, but she refused, and nested on Ramon's lap. Next thing you know, there's Tiger coming up to the sofa looking I CAN HAZ FUDZ NOW and proceeds to raid the bowl, as bold as brass. Whiskey gave him one look and decided cuddling with Parpar was the better option. LOL!
2) Daddy went back for the results of his x-ray. Turns out he had a touch of pneumonia. We were referred to a pulmonologist, who was amazed a) that the cold had gone on for as long as it had (since August 13!) and b) that Daddy was so well preserved for a man of 89. Dad has a new batch of medicines to take, I have taken charge of same, and he is under house arrest, as it were. We may have our differences, but he's still my Dad, and I will do what I can to get him through this.
OK, it's not as dramatic as all that. The actual diagnosis is pneumonia vs. PTB (pulmonary tuberculosis) but I suppose now that Dad is taking the proper meds at the proper times, we'll be all right.
3) Today we have the termite people come in for their monthly inspection.
4) Today we have the maintenance crew come in to check the toilet in the master bath. The weirdest thing - when the toilet is flushed, somehow the water drains into the bathtub before going down. ?????? I don't even know how that happens? I'm likely to be out paying a bill and visiting Whiskey, so Dad can handle this. And it will help him from feeling totally useless while he's under house arrest. :)
5) Today, I'm off to pay a credit card bill.
6) With a little luck, I can get Dad to put money in the bank to reimburse the grocery bill.
7) Also today, will have to try and get some more Aristocat for the brats. Qbie was home last night! He came while we were out, then returned when it started to rain last night. Slept in the kitchen without any fuss, and was out at first light (and a heavy breakfast) this morning. He and Paddycat had a staring contest and some warning noises, but I managed to avert a crisis. :)
8) Checked out the christmas gift list. Eliminated some recipients, added others. So it all balances out, the same number of recipients in the end. :)
9) Ma's laundry is finished and hanging on the lines. We have sunshine after early morning showers, and so they ought to be ready for folding by this afternoon. Yes!
So that is basically it? Yeah. ::listens:: Ahh, shucks. There's the sound of thunder. Hope it doesn't rain.
