The short version of a very stressful story: neighbors across the way complaining about cats, don't want to see them on their premises. Per request, have kept everyone locked up all night and all day. Apparently this is not enough for the anti-cat house, who have let it be known there is poison afoot in their garden.
So be it. Have released sanitized version to parents, and yay for Dad cooperating in not letting the chibis out wholesale. Seems he has fallen in love with Biscuit. So I said if he loves her, then he'll make sure to let them all stay inside, so she won't follow the tourists, as she sometimes does.
Given that the last time I saw Pickles come back from that house she was carrying a mouse home; well, I wish the neighbors joy of their poisoned home. At the very least they will have rat-free premises. (And I hope the rat dies behind their washing machine, if ever.)
And it's not so bad having them all inside; it lessens the anxiety levels and I get to close up much earlier than I normally would. I hope someday to fix things so that the lanai can be enclosed, and they can be semi-outdoor again. It just twinges my heart, it does, to see all the bewildered innocents lurking around the doors, wondering why Marmar won't let them out to climb trees.
One good thing about the rumpus, it seems complaining neighbor was referred to the CARA head, who lives in Forbes. Ms. Nancy called me, she gave me advice I have followed to the letter, and in turn she is helping me neuter my boys. It's funny, we agreed on a scheduled neutering for tomorrow; I sent her a text this afternoon and she said tomorrow was full and they were set for Sunday. So we agreed, and I thought that was that.
Then the CARA pickup shows up just before dinner and says they have room for three tomorrow! After some initial confusion, I sent off Tart, Patpat, and Pixel. My poor bewildered babies! They will be returned tomorrow, and the pickup will come on Saturday afternoon for Tiny, Tikoy, Bun and Brio. Which will be a relief when it comes to the fasting requirement. They get fixed on Sunday, and returned to us after recovery.
Then some way I'll find the money to pay for their fixing, even if the darlings are under the trap-fix-release program. It's the least I can do.
So indeed it is an ill wind that brings no good. Maybe my finances will have an equally happy ending. But that will be a whole other story altogether.
