Qbie checked in just before the clouds opened above us. Left him in the kitchen to down his breakfast, and gave him his Nutripet vitamins in three installments of .5ml each.

Went out into the garage to watch the rain while Qbie had breakfast. It was quite a light show. I had the sun starting to rise on my left, and this awesome wall of black clouds on my right, that moved in and blotted out the sunrise while it dumped its load of rainwater. There was the smell of the ocean in the air; not surprising as we are a mere five minutes from Manila Bay as the crow flies. (Given the nature of city traffic, the crow has it better.) There was lightning and thunder.

Kittehs came dashing in as the first fat drops fell, except for Pickles, who had spotted a dark grey squirrel on the wires. She was tracking it, and the impertinent thing actually whisked its tail at her as if to say, "can't touch this"! *LOL* That's when the rain really started to pour, sending both running for cover - Pickles to the garage, squirrel to the home tree.

In the kitchen Qbie was demanding to be let out, and I told him no, not until the rain stopped. He pouted - I kid you not, he does pout - but settled down in front of the lanai doors to wait it out. Directly the rain stopped, he came running to find me and stood in front of the bedroom window, letting it be known that he was ready to be let out NAO MARMAR SEE NO MORE RAIN *CHUUUU* (Yes, he planted his nose right on mine for emphasis.)

So of course I let him out. :) Along with a posse of Pica's clan that had had their second breakfast. All is quiet now, the calm before a busy day.

Am pleased to note that the Smart Heart kibble is popular with the brats. Their bowls are clean every morning! Also popular are the Nine Lives flavors, and to date Buchi has not shown signs of allergic reaction to any of them. Poor darling no longer looks shabby, thank god.

Also, have tried the Chinese made Aristo Cats tinned food, and the brats like the brand as well. At 55pesos/can, this is a great savings since it sells at 80pesos/can in the malls. 30pesos higher, it's outrageous. Am thinking maybe I can increase the ratio of cans to pouches, as a dozen Whiskas pouches = 5 tins, and 1 tin stretches farther than one pouch. Can save the pouches for single snacks.

Ok, time for a bit snooze before the real day begins.

Back from getting new Village stickers on the cars, renewing the Innova insurance, signing WOMFI documents, and McDo for Ma's apple pje and other goodies.

Disappointed in the way the American Idol turned out. But then if our contestant can be a good sport about it, so can the fans - after the requisite venting. And maybe now, Philip can get the medical attention he needs before starting on the Idol tour. Maybe he could get his surgery sponsored or something now? It would certainly help ease the expenses.

Only things left are to wait for the TV technician and pay the gardener. Then I can stay home like a working hermit till Sunday. And sleep!

The TV tech did arrive, a little late, but he did get here, and it turned out that he was the tech who serviced our old TV.

Turns out that the mainboard had corroded contacts. However, there was another set of input jacks that were still serviceable. So between us we managed to McGyver a new setup, thusly:

* cable TV signal feeds into the Digibox
* Digibox audio/video feeds into the Phillips DVR
* DVR video feeds into TV thru composite video cable (the one with the blue, green and one other color jacks)
* DVR audio feeds into TV thru regular AV cable

Voila, a functional TV with a clearer picture than before. Sony will check if they can source out a spare part for us, and let me know by tomorrow. I told Ma that given the stories the tech told me about how difficult it is to source out parts, might as well put in a new mainboard if one is available at a reasonable cost.

Otherwise, we will be in the market for a new TV, and getting rid of a partially functional TV will be the next order of business.

That's the main story of the afternoon. Now I'm off to sleep. I think.
